During Jerry’s tenure as Resident Conductor of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, he created a Second Atlanta School of Composers. Building on the work of Robert Spano’s Atlanta School of Composers, Jerry brought together seven composers from Atlanta and featured their stories and music in concerts and educational programs. The composers, Joel Thompson, Carlos Simon, Viet Cuong, Sarah Gibson, TJ Cole, Elise Arancio, and Xavier Foley are leading a new generation of American composers being commissioned by orchestras and opera companies.
