Associate Conductor Jerry Hou and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra celebrate the American experience. The concert opens with Joan Tower’s 1920/2019, a piece spanning 100 years of women’s history, from voting rights to the #MeToo movement. And then the dynamic pianist Awadagin Pratt joins the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for a new piano concerto by one of America’s most sought-after composers Jessie Montgomery. The program concludes with a concert-hall classic, the irresistible Concerto for Orchestra written in New York by the Hungarian immigrant Bela Bartòk in 1943
