Oregon Symphony Orchestra - Assistant/Cover Conductor for David Danzmayr

About

Inspired by his own adventures in the Alps, Strauss' An Alpine Symphony evokes nature's power and majesty in a journey through crashing waterfalls, misty meadows, and furious storms. And Portland favorite Garrick Ohlsson leads an equally intense journey of the heart in Chopin's First Piano Concerto, channeling the work's melancholy grace with "a sound so lush it almost glistens" (Seattle Times).

The Mazamas and the Oregon Symphony invite you to explore a temporary exhibit that delves into the early history of mountaineering on Mt. Hood, coinciding with the composition of Strauss's Alpine Symphony. The exhibit highlights the early ascents of Mt. Hood, the evolution of mountaineering as a sport, and the current state of climbing on the mountain. Featuring artifacts from the Mazama Library and Historical Collections, the exhibit will be on display during the three performances of the Alpine Symphony.

Additionally, Bark, a local organization committed to defending and restoring Mt. Hood, will be available in the lobby to share more information about their organization's mission and connection to our local communities.
